no pictures

I feel rather daunted wwriting a blog without any pictures. Though I have been working on several projects and happily observing progress I have totally forgotten to record these with my camera! I realised this morning when I wanted to share online that I actually didnt have any props to use. The challenge of writing itself became a rather daunting task. So I sit, feeling rather naked, remembering how we used to rely on the written word to communicate, through our letters and intimate notes, to friends, family and loved ones. These personal jottings were often entrusted to the postman, intended for travel just a few miles away, and contained the personal and private thoughts of one to another. The joys and the anticipation of hearing from others, the pleasures of writing, selecting the paper, pen, ink, or other implements, crafting the words and sharing one's life seem to be distant memories. How much life has changed, and how foreign the concept of writing in a manner that conveys my thougths actions and deeds has become. I mourn the passing of a creative skill I once possessed and carelessly lost.

  1. I'm sure you won't have lost that skill!
And I'm ready to read whatever you want to communicate.

    1. Thank you parlance. I have a sense that the fast paced world we live in thrives on graphic images to convey "a thousand words". I know myself that I too become impatient when reading something that is too too descriptive and switch mode to skim and seek for the 'guts' of the text. An awful overhang from the days of reading interminable essays with no focus.

  2. New skills needed! Move on.
Well, that was the sympathetic response. Now to a different one - we were talking today about travelling overseas and having a three week wait to get a reply to a letter sent home. So the letters had to be worth writing but the loneliness while waiting was hard. There are advantages and disadvantages to all this change. Now I will wait with bated breath (or not) for some images of works in progress.

    1. Ah yes, new skills indeed. I am still on only very impersonal terms in relation to my new camera. I have downloaded photoshop and had a little peek, but I think I miss the companionship and enthusiasum of like minded others in progressing further. I am sure this will change as I get used to the reality of having to develop self-disciplined motivation!
